Electrical Power: Overhead Connections
Customers are responsible for the installation of the meter, meter base and hub to include the cost and installation of the weatherheard. The Electric Department will provide the labor and the wiring from the transformer to the weatherhead.
Electrical Power: Underground Connections
All labor and costs for underground connections is the responsibility of the customer. Customers are responsible for the installation of the meter, meter base and hub to include the cost and installation of the weatherheard to an approved pole location. Customer will provide sufficient wiring to connect from the meter to the transformer and final connection will be provided by the Electric Department.

Natural Gas
The Municipal Utilities provides natural gas to the citizens of St. James in most locations of the city. The Municipal Utilities will provide at no cost to the customers the gas meter and one regulator. Anyone seeking to add gas service to their home or business that has never before had gas service or previously had gas services removed will be required to pay a non-refundable $225.00 Gas Tap Fee to connect to a gas main.
Water
The Municipal Utilities will provide a water meter at no cost to the customers. Customers are responsible for the cost of all materials from the connection point of the city water main to the facility receiving water service. The provided water meter will remain the property of the city. Under no circumstances shall any connection to the city water main be made without the supervision and approval of a city employed certified water operator. For a new service, a non-refundable $50 Water Tap Fee will be required to connect service lines to the main.
Sewer
Sewer service is provided by the Municipal Utilities for residential, commercial and industrial customers. Customers must contact the Municipal Utilities for connection approval and code compliance review. Under no circumstances shall any connection to the city sewer main be made without the supervision and approval of a city employed certified water/wastewater operator. For a new service, a non-refundable $50 Sewer Tap Fee will be required to connect the lateral line to the main.
